Nickelback

Because this blog is not only about films, I want to talk about this music band. This Canadian group got his name from the singer, who worked at Starbucks and where he always had to say "here's your nickel, back".

They are four members: Chad Kroguer, Ryan Peake, Mike Kroeger and Daniel Adair.

The song "Hero", for the "Spiderman" movie, propelled them into stardom beyond the frontiers of Canada.

Actualy they are a well-known international music band, but look like they don't know too much about Spain, because they aren't going to giveany concerts here. Anyway, I should have to go to UK, where they are going to play many concerts in May.

Here there is a video from their last disc "Dark Horse". Enjoy it!!

Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi

The other day I saw again this fine art that brings to us Oriental cinema animation.  Miyazaki + Ghibli are a combination, who, at the moment, haven't disappointed me and to tell you the truth, I don't think it they will do it.

The film was made some time ago. In fact Miyazaki has filmed another four movies, though in Spain we only could see “Howl’s Moving Castle”. Even so, personally, I don’t get bored of seeing it. Original, exciting, amusing, honest, there are a lot of adjectives to describe it and there could be more.

About the film, I don’t want to say too much just in case someone hasn’t had the great opportunity to see it yet. I just want to say; maybe you hear wonderful things about it, maybe you don’t, but it’s a film that every member of the audience should have their own opinion about it. Careful and detailed characters, situations that transport us to a fantastic world which at the same time is made up of real things.

A film, like the title says; that will make you dream.

Prince of Persia

Fresh news from this title:

This still comes from the first images from the movie that, supposedly, is based on the first game to appear for the new generation console “The sands of time”. Jake Gyllenhaal is at the top of the cast, and he is known for his work in the role of a homosexual cowboy in “Brokeback Mountain” although he has a filmography which is well up to the standard of the Hollywood star system (like “Zodiac”, “Jarhead” o “Donnie Darko”). The female character of the film, Tamina, is played by Gemma Arterton, recently  seen in the last “007” film, and who is going to be on the big screen in “RocknRolla” (not showing in Spain but I think is in cinema in other countries). The rest of the cast are very well-known names, with the exception of others that have begun in the movie world with this film.

The other news that “Prince of Persia” brings is the fourth issue of the game. At the moment, it is selling for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, and for PC in a few days. For the fans of Nintendo (like me proudly) it will only be available for Nintendo DS, but we hope finally be to Wii.

This issue, also is shared by Ubisoft, has an innovation in the graphics and in the story because he isn’t a prince this time, he is a tramp that has to face his fate. The game’s plot is clear in the videos from the official web site www.princeofpersiagame.com from which I have taken one to make your mouths water. Enjoy it.
